GND Univ clinches inter-varsity hockey title Staff ReporterNew DelhiGuru Nanak Dev University of Amritsar registered a win over Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith by 4-3 in a hard fought match to the exciting final of the 23rd Nehru All-India Inter-University Hockey Tournament at Shivaji Stadium in New Delhi.Harsahib Singh of Guru Nanak Dev University scored the first goal in the 10th min to give his team a 1-0 lead. Manish Yadav of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi, scored an equaliser in the 16th minute. The tournament which was organised under the ageis of The Association of Indian Universities attracted sixteen universities, where Chairman of HVR Sports INC Harshavardhan Reddy.Speaking on the final day, Reddy said, “Although hockey is India s national sport, it is rarely encouraged the way cricket is.
